    Description

WWI US M1917 HELMET W/ PAINTED 77TH DIVISION INSIGNIA (READ DESCRIPTION).
    Historical Background:
For sale is an authentic WWI US M1917 helmet from the 77th New York “Statue of Liberty division”. This is the same division that the famous “lost battalion” under the command of Major Charles Whittlesey, was a part of. Although there is no guarantee that this particular helmet was worn by a soldier from the so-called “lost battalion”, it was still worn and used by a soldier from the 77th division during WWI.
    General Description:
The helmet is in good condition. The Statue of Liberty is visible on the front of the helmet and there is little exterior rust. The chinstrap is missing and the liner is stuck to the inside of the helmet due to a small amount of interior rusting. However, the inside of the helmet is not messy nor is it decomposing. Overall a clean-looking display piece. Table and chair not included.
    Returns:
I do not accept returns because as good as a piece this helmet is, my growing collection of WWI and WWII helmets have limited the space available to display.
    Offers:
Make me an offer. I am always willing to negotiate.
