Original WWI Era US Army AEF M1917 Helmet Shell - with Liner & Chin Strap Assembly - Marked with Veteran's Date of Birth & Death - Very Nice Condition
Up for sale is an Original WWI Era USMC AEF M1917 Helmet Shell
.  This helmet has the orginal paint wth the original textured finish.  It is complete with the original Liner, horse hair pad, adjustable netting w/pull string and an original leather chin strap.  The liner and chin straps are soft and supple.  Some minor cracking.  Deep crack on one side of the strap, see photo.  The rim of the helmet has a number stamped into it "ZC 188",  I assume some production code.  It is marked: AEF Born Dec 9, 96 - Died Sept 22, 80.  I was told this helmet belonged to a WWI Veteran and was marked after his death by his family.  We have no other information or documentation on the veteran.  The rim is fully intact, not separating.  The helmet has the original paint, with no major dents or dings in the helmet.  This helmet is used, see photo's for condition.
