    Description

ww1 doughboy helmet stamped YJ133, odd coloring and I am not sure if this was a crude attempt at a camo  or if this is just a very unusual oxidation. There is brown coloring  sort of like brush strokes mixed in with the green, if its natural wear and oxidation it is a very atypical  ware pattern , to me it looks like it was crudely applied paint, but don't hold me to that, please zoom the pictures and assess that for yourself. The interior shows no such coloring pattern , the inside is more a uniform color. Usually when I rub my hand on a rusted surface I get that oxidation all over my hand and I did not on this so I am assuming this is brown paint. Look at the weird swirl pattern all along the brim and then almost up and down pattern on the dome. All very odd if natural oxidation and ware.  Stamp is a light strike so a little hard to see.
