Description
Offered for your consideration is a vintagetwelve (12) package store display
of
EAGLE
Mikado
Thin Leads, USA-manufactured c.1940. Each package contains six (6) sticks of 4” lead in the then novel .036” size, known better today as 0.9mm, protected in a small wood tray.
As you may know, industry-wide production of .036” thin lead didn’t begin until the late 1930’s, and EAGLE changed the Japanese name Mikado to "Mirado" at the onset of U.S. involvement in WWII, so Mikado displays were not available for very long. The later Mirado packages are yellow but otherwise identical.
So, please see my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this hard-to-find EAGLE Mikado display should be yours.
This EAGLE Mikado display is in clean, very good condition. It’s constructed of cardboard, measures 8½” tall x 4¾” wide, and has six packages adhered to it on each side. The display board has some age staining and the lead packs have a bit of attrition to their finish, as pictured, but no damage was noted. And I imagine that the leads are unbroken but I can’t be certain of that without opening each package. Overall, for being 80+ years old, this EAGLE Mikado display presents very nicely!
As pictured and described, this EAGLE Mikado Thin Leads store display is offered at a competitive price.
