    Description

Clark’s Pure Rye 1/8 Pint Whiskey Bottle- Front And Rear Labels!. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
Charles Clarke started a distillery in Peoria IL in 1862. He made an assortment of distilled liquors.
He was later joined in business by his brother Sumner. In 1870 their business was known as Clarke Bros. & Co. Distillers.
In 1888 they dropped all other spirits and focused on “Clarke’s Pure Rye”.
It was alleged that Charles was a founding member of the “Whiskey Trust”. This group coerced and/or muscled out competition, effectively creating a monopoly that allowed for price fixing.
Clarke Bros. produced rye whiskey from 1870 to 1919 (prohibition).
The bottle is about 3 1/4” high, 2” wide, and 1” deep. The front label has some damage, and the back label is very nice (as can be seen in the photos).
