    Description

These sugar tongs with spoon bowls on ends are the typical style in use during the 1700's in the U.S..
These tongs are made of coin silver and have no hallmarks or maker mark typical of much U.S. made silver during the 18th century.
. Also these tongs measure 6" long and weigh 23.4 DWT (over 1 Troy ounce).
These have three seperate solder repairs to the bend on handle that appear to be contemporary though the repairs were done expertly and are only noticable on the inside of the curve so not very noticable unless you look inside the bend. There is also some bending or uneveness in places on the handles..
The hand chasing on these is superb and is seen not only along the handles but there is also a nice floral design on each spoon.
American made sugar tongs are 100x rarer than English examples so these would be fitting in any collection of 18th century US made silver.
We will be putting up some more very rare 18th-early 19th century American coin and also European sterling silverwares in the upcoming week so check back from time to time.
