Wonderful Biedermeier necklace made of carved coral, around 1850
    description
Carved coral jewelry is one of the most spectacular souvenirs of a trip to Naples in the mid-19th century to this day. Century. We know simple chains made of coral carved into balls to this day in large numbers. Necklaces, brooches and whole paruras made of coral carved by hand into flowers and blossoms, leaves and fruits are still extremely rare and always a great pleasure, because they invite you to take a journey in thought and at the same time make us admire the craftsmanship of the masters away. Here is a necklace that presents a fragrant bouquet of flowers and fruits on three rows of small coral pearls. Roses, pears, peaches - the gifts of the rich gardens of the Amalfi Coast probably inspired the unknown coral carver from the gold of Naples, who made this necklace from countless individually carved elements. The corals show that bright red salmon tone that was common for corals from the 19th century. Century is typical. Carved coral jewelry was particularly popular in the middle of the century. The pieces always originated in the Bay of Naples and were then traded throughout Europe. In 1851, for example, the stand of the jeweler Robert Phillips at the world exhibition in London caused a sensation with a spectacular large selection of carved Italian coral, which was taken over by today's Victoria & Albert Museum only a little later. We discovered the necklace here in Berlin. See. about us
    Hofer antique jewelry
arose from the joy of beautiful things. It all started with my grandma, who was a lady who liked to adorn herself. She could tell something about each of her pieces of jewelery and when she opened her jewelery box, a world opened up: fond memories and touching stories connected with the pieces marked the highlights of a lived life. Based on these experiences, over the years a passion grew in me to deal with these small and always very personal objects.
