    Description

Very Rare and beautiful, ca1890’s "Brunswick Bourbon” Brand Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey paneled and incised / cut gold gilt lettered, Back Bar / Saloon Whiskey Bottle / Decanter.
This fantastic Back Bar / Saloon Bottle measures approx. 11 1/2” tall and 3 1/2" in diameter at the base. The Bottle features a rare, 20 internal panel body and 8 panel, exterior neck and shoulder design with a "Brandy” or “Wine" type lip. This very attractive, Bourbon Whiskey Back Bar Bottle features incised / cut lettering with gold gilt paint that reads "Brunswick Bourbon".
Brunswick Bourbon Whiskey was distilled by the Lyndale Distillery of Louisville, Kentucky. It may also have been previously distilled by another Kentucky Distillery for a Cincinnati, Ohio Liquor Distributor. The use of glass bottles for storing whiskey was impractical and generally too expensive in the 1800’s due to the hand glass blowing methods. In 1903, the automatic bottle-making machine was invented which made selling whiskey in bottles financially feasible. Before that time whiskey was sold directly out of wooden barrels in saloons. Some saloons transferred small quantities of whiskey from the barrels to glass Back Bar Bottles imprinted with the whiskey’s name. The Lyndale Distillery Distillery followed in this tradition by supplying saloons with their own decanters like the one offered here.
This rare and wonderful, Back Bar Bottle is in excellent condition. The Bottle is very well preserved with no physical damage to the glass - no chips, no cracks, no wear and no damage or repairs of any kind. The glass is clear and clean with no clouding / white residue on the interior surface of the Bottle. The gold gilt that is applied to the incised / cut lettering is exceptionally well preserved and overall the Bottle is exceptionally well preserved and displays beautifully.
The Bottle is unconditionally guaranteed to be original and of the period - ca1890's.
